The essence of Prince...?

If you were asked to describe the essence of Prince music, could you? Would you say that it's emotional music, fueled by rhythm, guitars and keyboards?..Would you say the essence of Prince's music is the vocals, sometimes falsetto, sometimes Camille, sometimes mid range?

How would you describe the essence of Prince's music?

Okay, I looked and I don't think I've written anything about this previously. So this is all coming from scratch and bear with me.

The essence of Prince lives in his music. It is very emotional and you can instantly feel off what he is feeling because of the tone in his voice, the way he plays the piano or keyboard keys or the way his guitar sounds.

His musical range goes far beyond anyone else I've known before. It takes a lot of talent to make rap or hip-hop sound good (tracks like Gett Off, eye Wanna melt with U, My Name is Prince are proof), genres I wouldn't touch otherwise. But his strong suit is metaphorical lyrics with complex melodies where the guitar or in rare cases, piano, stands out above the ranks and expresses what his voice cannot.

And his voice has a remarkable range and on its tone alone, you can see what he's feeling at the time, either he's in love or he's sad or confused. And his longer pieces take on lives of their own and take you on the same journey he's taking within his voice (Automatic, Computer Blue and Purple Rain).

That's the best I've got for the moment. Hope that makes sense to you guys. wink

On a whole throughout the years, Prince's music annot really be described in a single word or phrase because he's covered almost every aspect of life, love, sex, religion, racial aspects, word, you name it he's done it. How are you gonna put that in a box?!

YES!!! I got it one! giggle

Thanx.
I'm glad that I haven't lost my touch.

I also incorporated the mention of "piano" because of "Somewhere here on Earth". That song lacks guitar all together and it really speaks volumes. But he does the same in "Condition of the Heart"... but that has a little guitar in it.
