Does Prince realize Do you think the man once thinks that if it wasn't for having fans that watch the video and listen to the music online that he wouldn't be getting promoted as much? There are young people that weren't around for Purple Rain era when the became big, no now they look online for everything. I know I have been a Prince fan since 1982, and I still like to look online for videos and music.
Sometime I think he is too controling. Prince if the is how you treat the people that made you there is no wonder why you can't stay married. By the way PRINCE how do you think people buy your TICKETS!!! Go to ticket master!!!! NO they go online, go ahead and pull those you jack in the box!! Sorry org I am just mad!!

I think bringing his marriage situation into the argument was a bit below the belt.If you're a true fan you'd surely show some respect.
Ok, some things he does have a tendency to rile some of us. However it would be far more boring if he stuck to the rules. We love Prince for his consistency at being inconsistent. Not one of us knows his next move - That's why we are so fascinated. Now get off your soap box Thank-you and goodnight xx

Prince always seems to have somethin' up his sleeve...
He is a smart man that deserves the right to collect the past, maybe to re-distribute the material, in a new way... Prince is way beyond the point of society forgetting his talent. It isn't fair that some people can have this anger toward him and pass along their impression of him. Genuine fans, sadly have to pay the price for those that have abused "HIS" art. Now get off your soap box Thank-you and goodnight xx I agree 100%, Prince still has plenty of videos online that people can watch, he's only removing the ones he feels are inappropriate, and yes it may seem a bit too controlling, he has every right to do this. His personal; life is really nobody's business. [Edited 9/28/07 6:04am]

No - purely because you assume that everyone feels the same way you do! I don't hate him for exercising his rights - what's so wrong with that? Its this selfish "I have the right to see whatever I want" that is wrong. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

I wonder the same. I got into Prince via the thing he did on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thing. Then the Ultimate and then Purple Rain and Planet Earth. I don't know why he'd take his vids off of youtube. It seems like he's assuming that everyone is already a fan and doesn't really care about new fans....
Prince is a musical genius, but he's just to fucking weird and crazy for my tastes Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

Prince is a musical genius, but he's just to fucking weird and crazy for my tastes So, you're here because.....? "It seems like he's assuming that everyone is already a fan and doesn't really care about new fans" - er, no, its more like he's concerned about people being able to see any old crap with him in it, poor production and sound quality. And even if he wasn't concerned about quality and just wanted to pick and choose what gets put out there (and I don't know how many times this needs to be stated!) IT'S HIS STUFF, he can do what he wants with it!! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

You answered your own question! I think Prince did OK before the internet too! He still managed to get a couple of fans I seem to remember..!

These folks today don't realize what they have, back in the late 70's early 80's we could only dream of internet videos and the things the Web offers today, Please stop complaining, watch the Prince vids you can and stop worrying about the ones you can't- Geez!

Silly argument. Prince's actions are being justly criticized within the context of today's times. With your rationale, we could argue that we have no right to complain about the Bush party's corrupt politics since at least we're not seeing our wives get burned for being supposed witches. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

this "moveon" mentality is an interesting argument...just because someone is expressing frustration it doesn't mean there are not other qualities of an artist to still appreciate. Space for sale...

that he is the best yes he does. As a live performer, that may be true, but he's nowhere near being the best as a recording artist now. I'm serious; not even close. His new music really only matches up when you compare it to the less talented pop stars of today; that's why you always see people defending his new stuff by saying, "Hey, it's better than anything on the top 40 right now." The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I shall say this again.... as long as there is a web connection one can always find access to an abundent supply of Prince material. Prince might only be capable of stopping big names like YouTube and Google Video but there will always be the endless number of P2P sites to choose from (for direct Dl and not stream).
I will say this, I don't blame Prince one bit for wanting his material of the net. Remember, he is after these sites because of their financial gain off his material from advertising. Not to mention Ebay allowing unauthorized merchandise like coffee cups or whatever. That's the reason for his actions. He should be the one to benefit from his work. But as far as his videos or music, seek and ye shall find. Klick [Edited 9/29/07 12:25pm] klick
