What 'type' of songs Prince should try out a bit more? Here are my top-choices.
1. The kind of weird, experimental, imaginative, sometimes suite-like songs he recorded with Wendy and Lisa in 1986: Crystal Ball, In all my dreams, Theres others here with us. 2. The hybrid of orchestral arrangements and raw (electronic) beats he created with Clare Fisher. I mean, he sure did create some 'magic' with that stuff: Screams of Passion (the Family) and Mia Bocca (Jill Jones) are jewels to me when it comes to the arrangements. 3. His attempts to create 'the perfect popsong'. He has done that way to less in my opinion: early (and all very great) examples are When U were mine, Little Red Corvette and Raspberry Beret. But after that he unfortunately only occasionally tried to create this kind of song (Starfish and Coffee). Personally i think the most charming and pleasant moments on "Planet Earth" are when he tries to go for the 'melodic pop' again (All the midnights in the world, Resolution). I hope he will do more songs in that vein in the future.

'Guitar' If he's in a more mellow mood... 'Under the Cherry Moon' It's like when you get up in the morning, you have different things on your mind. That's why Prince's music is so good - it's like a personal diary. He literally sings and makes music to his thoughts. It's a way of him expressing himself... Shut up already, damn.

To answer the initial question, I'd like to hear him go more from the same "emotional core" his Planet Earth material come from. The vibe of that music is just so magical... but maybe Wendy & Lisa helped a bit with that. Who really knows? Now I've got Resolution in my head had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. Its kind of hard to say. I like songs that takes you on a ride where you don't know where you'll end up, especially after listening to the song for the first time, such as Planet Earth, East, Rainbow Children, Computer Blue, the Dance, etc.

oh yeah, I definitely go for those. He should do another like "The Dance"... that was ingenius, playing off 2 diff. voices that are his own. Totally had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I guess Prince ought to just write what he feels...I don't think he should
sit down at the piano and try to write a love song, if a rock chipped one of his cars or a lion dragged him through the rain. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...
