Have noticed that Prince seems to have some device in his ear when onstage, as do other singers. What is it and what does it do?

usually, these r some sort of monitors, so the artists can "hear" themselves, with out the crowd noise. Or sometimes, they r used as a communication device between artists, producers or even security at the concert.

But if it's Prince, he's prolly tuned in 2 something funky HE can channel and release un 2 us!!!!

Based on the title, I thought you were talking about his "ear bling."

Yup there called In Ear Monitors. As was stated before they are worn to help you hear yourself without the crowd noise. There are many kinds but the pros use ones where you actually go to an ear doctor and they make a mold of the inside of your ear so they are unique to your ears and yours alone. You can have anything from the mixing board piped in be it just your voice or all the band. Whatever you want pretty much.
