His Purpleness

Prince became popularly known as The Purple One (His Purple Badness, etc) when PR came out in 1984. But he was making purple references in '82 (DMSR, "Now you can all take a bite of my purple rock!"). Can anyone think of an earlier purple mention??

And don't make fun of my thread. evil This question is integral to my very important research.

can't think of an earlier one.I don't suppose the purple trenchcoat on the Controversy cover count's as an earlier example of his purple fixation?shrug

There is a1976 song called Leaving For New York, well its more like a demo. The sound quality isn't too hot but Prince says the words PURPLE and RAIN in it. So that's the earliest one i know!

Yeah its a nice song.. not the best quality, but u cant tell that its very pretty
