Prince on wax (i.e. vinyl)

Inspired by SirPsycho's thread...

How many of y'all own and/or listen to Prince on vinyl?
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I own all of them and numerous boots up to Batman OST except 1999.

Never listen to them - but then i rarely listen to the albums on CD either except Prince, Dirty Mind and whatever one is the latest as I prefer the live recordings for the most part.

Shooo...I'm still acquiring old Prince vinyls. I love that stuff -- crackle and all!

i was recently reunited with all my old prince vinyl, which amounts to pretty much everything from "for you" up to the batman-era 12" singles. i haven't listened to them since i re-acquired all my old vinyl, but i know i will at some point in the near future. i'm just happy to have them back with me again. nod

When I think of hauling all that heavy vinyl every time I moved (over almost 20 years of renting), my arms still ache. lol

I don't regret it a bit, though.

I got all his albums from For You up to Symbol. I also have Beautiful Experience, 3121 and Planet Earth on wax and some 7" and 12" singles.

I haven't spun either of them, cause I'm not a fan of 3121 or Planet Earth, I bought them cause I want all of his stuff on wax lol
I could prolly give them a spin tomorrow and see how they sound

I also got a ton of old 12"s - upto sorta batman era I guess.

other thing i miss (I'm an old git) is the nice big covers and gatefold sleeves and all that - much more tactile than those nasty little plastic cases.

I've got pretty everything that's been released on vinyl, though I must admit that I tend to listen to CDs more (too lazy to keep getting up and changing the record!)

I have almost everything issued in the UK on vinyl and a few things from overseas.

I packed my turntable away a while ago, and I have never played most of my Prince limited edition vinyl e.g. picture discs.

Well, picture discs are more of a collectable anyway. The sound quality is not as good as on normal vinyl.

I bought Prince on vinyl up until Graffiti Bridge and then started shoplifting CD's until the introduction of MP3 after which I've just had all my music on continuous rotation so I never have to get up out of my chair. I now weigh 4 tons and can't get out of my house which is just as well as it's cold outside.

Where did you even find them? I've seen Musicology...but unless it has a full print jacket, I can't be bothered.

I did ntoice with Black Sweat and Fury vinyl that the sound was terrible, but it could be because of the Picture Disc.

Don't have any of the albums on vinyl. Back then I bought mostly cassette. But I have most of the 12" singles on vinyl. The only one's I don't have are the Sexy Dancer (extended mix) and the UK Purple Rain with the God instrumental. I don't have a turntable to play them on anymore.

Yea, I would have wanted the covers to be fully printed on the lp but instead they are just black and have a small picture of the album cover on the top right corner.
I bought 3121 at GEMM.com and found Planet Earth at a local record store.

I acquired both of those in the last year or so. They cost a small fortune...but they were worth it. cool

I have:

All the vinyl albums from "For You" through "Sign O The Times".

All the vinyl 12 Inches except for some rare ones like "Little Red Corvette" or "Sexy Dancer". "New Power Generation" was the last 12 Inch I bought on vinyl. Everything afterwards, I bought as CD Maxi Singles.

All the 45s that had non-album B Sides.

I can't even imagine Vinyl Bootlegs. I have seen them, but now that there is better quality on CD, why would I bother?

Was Charade a bootleg?

there was a time when it was easier to find vinyl/cassette bootleggage than it was to find it on CD. don't forget, i'm an old fart. lol

I've got all of the albums up to and including Graffiti Bridge, and most of the 12s. I don't have a UK God, a Let's Work, a Sexy Dancer or a Little Red Corvette. My favorite piece is the U.S. I would Die 4 U 12", with the oversized labels, and I've got two copies of The Family 's album. I still listen to most of them cuz I never bothered buying CDs of those albums. One of the Family's I've never touched, and my I would Die, is still sealed.
