Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic / Beautiful Strange Can anyone tell me if Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic is worth trying to get hold of and maybe where I could get it from? I've got Un2 The Joy Fantastic on cassette(!) and not one of his greatest albums but was looking at maybe getting it on CD, then heard that In2 the Joy was released as a download years back through NPG as a remix and is better than the original - but as NPG is no more could be a problem trying to get hold of it?
Is it much different from / better than the the original? I'm especially keen to get it as I heard Beautiful Strange at one of the aftershows in Indigo but heard that it's only available on this album?

It will always be a matter of taste but some people prefer the changes reflected on In2 compared to the original Arista release. In2 was made available through Prince's online retail outlet, but is no longer available this way. You will therefore have to hunt around e.g. look on the likes of Ebay. Musically, some of the tracks are the same and some are different versions. 'Beautiful Strange' is the only new track. The version on the album also features Mike Scott on guitar. A version with only Prince on guitar has never been officially released on CD, but featured on the 'Beautiful Strange' video release, which was first broadcast on television and included him being interviewed at Paisley Park by Mel B. The video is also no longer available. The CD packaging varies slightly, with In2 having a booklet instead of the fold-out liner of the original. The front cover also shows Prince's eyes looking in a different direction. More details in the Housequake discography: http://www.housequake.com...phy_raveun http://www.housequake.com...phy_ravein . I disagree with the comments in the link I provided above (from Housequake, but Uptown's The Vault, originally) about there being little difference between the two versions, and I much prefer the video version. . . Beautiful Strange is a great track. Shame it wasn't on the original album in place of that lame Sheryl Crow cover.

Beautiful Strange is a great song, and it could've been added to the CD,
However, I enjoyed Prince doing, "Everyday is a winding road." "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I listened to Rave In2 just yesterday. Call me crazy, but I think it is a really good album. Neither of these fit into the musical landscape when they came out, but I liked it then and liked it even more now. I like the versions on In2 better. They just more fun.
