Seriously, is Prince the greatest live performer ever?

Obviously being a Prince site most people will say yes, but I would say he is most definately.

I've never seen an act that can touch him for musicianship, versatility and all round showmanship. He's incredible.I've felt this way for the last 15 years or so.I'd say you could put him one on one against any act in the world and he'd blow them away easily.I just wished he'd have done 'Live aid' or something similar and shown the world.

It kind of bugs me when you see magazine polls like in Q magazine and you see Radiohead or U2 winning in categories like 'Best live act in the world today'

It's bullshit that.Ain't it?

I don't think he's toured as extensively as U2 or Radiohead over the last...mmm, 5 years at least. He's much more underground compared to them.

Well, name another performer with his vocal range who also plays lead guitar, bass guitar, organ, piano, and drums. In terms of his versatility, he's one of the greatest ever. His showmanship is one of a kind, too.

Don't forget the James Brown dance moves! Unfortunately his major TV appearances often don't feature his best stuff or really show his talent. My favorite TV moments were the Grammy's and AMA's of 1985 and the MTV Awards when he played Sign O the Times. After those I haven't been too impressed. The whole MTV Gett Off thing with the see thru pants seemed cheesy to me and just shocked people like Marilyn Manson more than blowing them away musically. Every TV performance has either been a ballad or a medley. I did like the Arseneio show though I guess.

Say whatever you want, but the 2 KISS concerts I've been to were head and shoulders above anything else I've ever experienced. GWAR is pretty entertaining too. Prince is VERY good, particularly the 2 aftershows I've seen.

The very lovely Janet Jackson but she is not a great live performer. Way do dependant on a controlled structured environment.

The true test of a artist is what that artist can do outside of a controlled environment. Prince can entertain thousands of people with just a piano now that is cool.

Yes, he's the best ever!
Prince is the best musician ever.

Wasn't the Dave Matthews Band named the
best live act on one of "those" shows
recently?? LOL
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
