To those who saw the Sign o' the Times tour...

Just watched this movie again tonight, the bazillionth time since 1987. That's twenty years. But I never saw the tour.

But I know some of you did.

Help us out, here. How was it? And in particular, how did it stack up to the movie (since we know a lot of those scenes were filmed at Paisley Park)? How would you compare the experience to the film?

All recollections (the longer the better) welcomed and encouraged. smile

I can only say that over on housequake.com (the more european fanbase) people who saw it said it was much more intense/powerful than the movie... and that was intense!

I saw it.

It was my first concert ever.
It was in Dortmund / Germany. And I can remember it very well.
As Support Act there was MADHOUSE. And that was fantastic. None of us heard this Music before, but when they kicked ass with tunes like FOUR it was amazing.
The band was dressed in coats with a hood.
And I can remember one Bandmember was very short !
wink ( Maybe the Bassplayer )
The main show itself was mindblowing. Like I said it was my first concert. And there could be no better start.
Sign The Times was a perfect opener, Fantastic Drumwork, like in the Movie.
It was energetic and powerful. I can remember that the Newspapers were exited about the show on the next day.

Beautiful Stage as well.

The Sign of the times concert in Dortmund was my first ever concert too. Most of the audience were dressed in Peach or Black because it was requested on the tickts. It was a great concert and the crowd went really wild when Sign ot the times started and he hit the guitar really hard. Too bad I didnĀ“t get one of the tamborines that were given away for free. My next concert was the Lovesexy Tour in Frankfurt.

he had lots of rain while in Utrecht, the Netherlands. (i know, iwas there (in a dry place biggrin ). Before the show started (my first ever gig BTW) it was announced that because of the heavy rain maybe the had to cancel the show (there where already about 15.000 fans in the stadium). Arrangements had already been made to reschedule in Ahoy' Rotterdam.
There was a show (and it was greatgreatgreatgreat). Rumour was then Prince had enough of the rain and he had planned outdoor shows in the UK as well. He then decided to skip the outdoor venue in England and play the already chartered Ahoy'. (another reason was he really liked it in Holland. It where the shows where the blinking with lighters first was een for example).
Because the fans where (and still are) so great he decided to record the movie.

(in '88 he decided to broadcast a show from Germany on TV and the tickets for that show went for alse in ....The Netherlands.)
