This is probably the 2nd or 3rd time I've done this. I might end up changing my mind in a few months and claiming the album isn't good all over again... but for now, I actually found a glimmer of hope that it can be good in its own right, just not when its compared to everything else.

Certain songs just come off better when I put thru the album backwards (which I dub as 1213).
Get on Boat is a great start, gets the energy going and it's a great companion if its played after the Musicology album.
Fury, I'm not sure if it's because of "Guitar", but I'm actually liking it better these days.
Each song gets progressively more experimental and more modern-sounding. And it ends on a good note (with The Dance towards the beginning).

I've lost my taste of Black Sweat (with both 3121 and 1213). But Te Amo Corazon, I've gotten to love again. And 3121 does round out its album well, ending it with one big party of "futuristic fantasy".

Any thoughts?

I'm gonna try it and I'll let you know - good idea. 3121 is my all-time favorite album.

In my personal opinion, I think that Resolution should tell come towards the end... but Planet Earth should come after it. Heh, starting the album with Guitar... that'll be something interesting.

The only thing stopping me from doing that with PE is that the song is called "Resolution" meaning it has to be towards the end. I like the album as is.



I don't know why, but I've always kinda liked that song... can't explain it. Glad someone gave 1213 a shot, though. Hopefully we'll have more takers.

Well, I did encores after playing thru the album. And I did that by setting my player to random. And what came out actually fit my mood perfectly at the time.

Oh! When I read the title I thought you were talking about playing the song backwards!

With everything array here last week, I wasn't in the best state of mind. So my old pal Musicology didn't even get through to me.
Somehow 1213 managed to outshine it and I saw a glimmer of hope that I could love the work in 3121 again. I mean really love it. I've given the album a lot of heat... so it felt good to enjoy it so much.

i tried it and it does sound "new"...same with any cd on shuffle as others have mentioned...

i think what it comes down to is this: anytime we listen to a songs in a different order than we were introduced to them, they seem to obtain novelty....the same is done if you switch headphone sides (L/R) and listen to a song that has been heavily panned...

Its like he has given me two solid cds of music instead of 3.
Next time I burn a 3121 version I'll try it in reverse.

I have mixed Musicology & 3121 several times... based on songs of sophistication and personality... I think id pick sophstication every time... im not sure if I wanna mix PE in there cuz I like it how it is.
