Just as long as we're together appreciation I wish he had played this at the O2 or Indigo - with the band he has this would sound so good . It's been years since I really listenend to this so been playing this track quite a bit in the last week and its just a great showcase for an early talent to put out. Prince sounds so confident on it and the melody is so infectious!

This song , as well as the rest of the album, is still among my favorites..
I would go so far as to say that this IS my favorite album... Now, if only he would actually kick this into a live performance.. everything's alright.. "..Just close your eyes and count to 10...and when U open 'em I'll B standing naked with nuthin' but a SMILE on.."

I LOVE "Just As Long As We're Together"!
That's a GREAT song from the early Prince days! Back when he was just starting out in his "Afro/Disco" era. "Just As Long As We're Together" is one of his first songs that nobody talks about but it's a fantastic little gem! I love how funky it gets when it turns into an instrumental towards the end! For a 20 year old, Prince was a very talented and impressive cat even back then! His mastery of funky rhythms and instrumental capabilities is staggering and astonishing! Keep in mind he was a one man band on "For You" his first album for WB back in 1978. I love the part at 5:16 in the track when he bends that synthisizer pitch up three octaves! So spacey and funky! Dig those funky guitar licks and handclapsnfingasnaps! "Just As Long As We're Toghether" deserves major recognition and praise, because it is the very first example of Prince's amazing instrumental capabilities. I love that line "ooh baby you're place or mine, i'll get the music baby you bring the wine" Soft and Wet might have been the single, but Just As Long As Were Together has a sweetness to it a "we're young and in love and we got each other" kind of vibe to it. It sounds corny but I wish pop music had that today. 1978 was just a simpler sweeter time I guess...sigh...I don't mind Prince's sexually explicit songs, its just that he was also capable of incredible sweetness in his songs also. Thats what separates him from todays so called pop "stars". Oh yeah and another thing separates him from them...HE HAS TALENT!!! "Don't you hear this old school joint? Don't you EVA touch my stereo!"-"Musicology" 2004 [Edited 6/13/08 23:19pm]

I love this song too; such a great old tune. And I love how it eventually gave birth to The Glamorous Life. I would love to see those two songs played live mashed up together by Prince and Sheila.

Ha! That part always cracks me up, like he's telling her to go out and buy wine while he's just going to go home and pick up a couple of his albums to bring over. Get your cheap ass out to the store and buy some wine, Prince!
