Is it me or some people in this forum try way too hard to find things to be disappointed with Prince?

I think most people in here are mindless followers who see Prince as a god who can no nothing wrong. Everything he releases is pure genius. Every move he makes must be defended, no questions asked.

Some of us actually have a brain and think for ourselves. Just keeping it real...

I don't get disappointed with Prince very often because the past has taught me not to get my hopes up.

I was disappointed with "Around The World In A Day", I was disappointed with "Parade" and I was disappointed with "Sign O The Times". By the time "Lovesexy" was released, I stopped getting my hopes up thinking that the "Old Prince" was going to return. "Lovesexy" wasn't the strong "Old Prince" that I wanted, but I wasn't disappointed with it because I wasn't expecting anything stronger.

It's not you. These folks get worst everyday, I can't figure it out, I know how Prince use to be, it seems to me all he's asking for is respect and that seems so hard for these people to give him, even tho they call themselves his fans. It's like they feel he owes them something. But what they need they can't find thru a computer screen that's for sure. What does that man have to do to get respect?

You're so right babynoz. I've never understood why people keep coming back here if they don't like him. I used to like this other entertainer also, things happened and I didn't want to be there anymore so I didn't hang around complaning on his website. I just left, stoppped buying his music, going to his shows, kissed him off like he never existed. why hang around Bitchin and Moanin?!

There are so many lost, loveless, lonely people out there maybe the internet is the only way they can get any attention.

There's nothing to be disappointed about...Art has always stimulated,
conversastion and debate.

Sexybeautifulone, I'd love to know what prince has ever done to disrespect you personally or your family. Know what at the end of the day it should be just about the music.

As a fan of 29 years though, I do think he has an irritating tendency to disrespect the very people who are as much responsible for his success as he is.

Before you go to saying that his incredible talent would have insured his success, really think about that for a minute!

Some people here are kind of weird and probably have no life so they just trying to achieve attention or whatever! But sometimes I find my self laughing at some of their ignorant comments wondering where their minds are at. The general attitude I get from some people is that they're fickle, one minute they declare their love for Prince, and the next they cuss him out. So immature and if anything they probably don't get the point/message of the music.

Most people don't visit a Prince fan site everyday, like yourself, and try to come off as someone who's better than everyone else because Prince don't do it for 'em anymore.

but yeah I mean love takes many forms...I love my mom but I can tell you some things that irk me even though she's my mom...doesn't mean I love her any less just means we have our differences and that's what some fans have to realize....yes some fans get disappointed and may not agree with everythign he does but doesnt mean we are not supportive of him in general..just because some fans dont like any and everything about the man doesnt mean they love him any less...

For the record, my problem isn't with Prince taking his face off the internet. I couldn't care less about that. I already have all that I will ever need to see or hear and then some. Though I do feel sorry for those who will never be able to say that.

My problem with him is his joining up with Web Sheriff, who are nothing more than flunkies for the corporate entities trying to gain control of the internet and what we see, hear and do on it! I happen to find that disrespectful, considering how his fans were the ones that supported his fight against some of those very same entities.

I don't know about the rest of you but it bothers the hell out of me that in America EVERYTHING we see, hear and read is controlled by just 10 companies and those same 10 companies are pissed because they can't control the internet as well!

Don't believe me...take any publication or media outlet and go all the up the chain of command to it's parent company and you will end with 1 of 10 of the very same companies. Instead of whining to me about being hard on Prince, y'all need to be looking at the bigger picture, see what's really going on and get involved before it's too late!

Entertainment is supposed to be for enjoyment. When patronizing Prince gets to be more hassle than fun I'll find something else to do. I'll probably always care about what's on that mind of his and what he's going to do next but not to the point of agonizing over it.

If you think that is the case then you should stop supporting him on principle. For me the jury is still out while I observe where P is going with this because in the big picture entertainment is of little importance.

In the bigger picture my concern leans toward the impact of the control of important information as opposed to entertainment. I'll always be involved in the fight to keep important information freely accessible.

It does kinda seem that way.
The old-school people expect what's been done b4 and are disappointed when they don't get it. And ever since he converted his religion, it feels like they're bracing for disappointment.
I kinda get that vibe, but try to avoid reading TOO MUCH into it.

In my personal case, as insignificant as it may be, I have about a 95% approval rating with Prince's material. And I've been disappointed with few albums in their first trials.
[off the top of my head, that included TGE, Musicology, 1999, Rave, and ]...
well, first trials aren't a good example for me.
But all of the ones I own, 3121 has taken the most heat... but with that and every album that doesn't come off well, I work with it until I really know for sure.

I really put the hours in with 3121 this weekend & it paid off [upcoming thread]... not sure if that really answers the question, though. But I couldn't resist giving my input.
