An Abusive Relationship? Hi Orgers.
Today, a friend of mine almost got into a MAJOR fight over Prince: My friends, Diana, Becky, Morgan and I went to our local Dairy Queen for a late lunch and some frozen treats. So our DQ has an open patio out front and we sat out there eating. My friend Morgan, who's the youngest of the bunch (she's Becky's cousin, the rest of us are in our 20s) started talking about how Prince had been Sky news and over the internet and all. Nothing big, just a private conversation among friends. As we're talking, this other girl, about 16 or 17 comes flaunting by and hears Morgan talking about Prince. Out of nowhere, the girl butts in and goes: "I don't know why y'all guys like Prince. That's like an abusive relationship. He keeps smacking the hell outta y'all suing y'all and shit and y'all still love him." (I live in the South and EVERYone says "Y'all".) Morgan took immediate offense as did the rest of us, but she got the most vocal yelling that she had done nothing to upset Prince and that the girl "better get out my hair before I kick your ass!" The girl, I guess, got scared and proceeded on into the building, and Morgan quieted down, but I couldn't help but think is it an abusive relationship? I don't think it is. I personally haven't done anything that I think would make Prince mad. And I know he goes overboard sometimes with the suing and bickering and all, but I know he just trying to protect his image and stuff. I just think he's moody, that's all. What do you guys think, does it ever feel like you're in an abusive relationship with Prince? I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me. Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots. Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol. Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol. Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

The only thing I can say is, that I have been a consistent fan for 28 years,
and there isn't any reason that Prince would want to take me to court. I listen to his music, go to a concert when I can, and that's a fan I guess. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I listen to Prince because he's one of the great musical forces of this or any other generation. I'm greedy that way.
I don't choose artists who will thank me endlessly (kiss my ass), acknowledge all the money I've spent, have false relationships with me (although there's no harm in pretending), or who will sing/speak back my same thoughts. I and I alone choose to spend the money that I do. And I never do it so that I can later hold that over someone's head if they aren't behaving to my standard at the time. And Prince has never or can never do anything to me unless I give him that power. It's just a difference of opinion; at least until I have to hire a lawyer.

maybe to a rather obsessive fan, are you an obsessive fan (not implying that that's bad)?

I think this story is bullshit. No hard feelings.

Nope! I have absolutely no problem with what Prince does, if a person has a boundary line and tell you please not to cross it but you feel the need to do it anyway you have to deal with the consequenses and repercussions. As long a Prince doesn't physically hurt anyone for his own pleasure..... I mean except for the person that threw that glowstick at his back, I would have wooped some ass. But other than that I'm cool with the Electric Man! surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water
I ain't felt this way in years...

Abuse the hell out of me Prince...just keep the music rollin'
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Right? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Seriously though, getting into a fight over this? People in their twenties getting into a fight when someone doesn't like their favorite artist... It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
