by far, one of my favorites. Definitely the best guitar solo. Every time I hear it I can just see his facial expressions with every chord. "blessed are we inside this prayer for in the new world we will be there"

yeah but which version? ill take le new morning over small club any day! I've only heard the small club version. But since that's enough to have me slidin' off furniture, it'll suffice. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Never heard it.
How close to the orginal version is it? No More Haters on the Internet.

I was thinking the same thing. How close?

I believe it's good. However I wonder if it's better than his version of
"Honky Cat." "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

I love it!
His little guitar intro, the massive solo, the whole thing! And I think it woulda been a great addition to Emancipation

This solo is good but its status has been greatly exagerated over time. There are far superior moment on the cd of that particular performance. For instance the solo on still would stand all time is a far more focused, moving and emotionally infused solo but rarely gets a mention.

I understand what you're saying. Technically, the solo on "Just My Imagination" isn't the hardest thing he's ever done. Most of us guitarists could play it with no problem. But the way he puts it together, the phrases he chooses, the emotion that comes through, the backing instrumentation - all that does indeed make it one of my favorite solos by anyone, ever. I never want to see a video of it, either. I want to always imagine in my mind what Prince must have looked like, what the band members were doing behind him, and how amazed the crowd must have been.

That's because it's purely a matter of opinion. You are touched by Still Would Stand All Time. Others prefer Just My Imagination. We could debate it forever and still never arrive at a "right" answer -- because it's all about the way the music makes us feel. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Really good. When he did it at the Lovesexy after shows. Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Okay...I have now heard the Le New Morning version of this. And let me say...whomever feels that version is superior to Small Club is either completely wacked in the noggin -- or just taking a contrary position based on the fact that fewer people have actually heard Le New Morning.
Because I'm here to tell you...it doesn't hold a candle to the Small Club for sheer power and emotion. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
