The Rainbow Children - LOVE IT, IT'S THE JAM!!!!!!!!!! The Rainbow Children fucking rocks so much. Damn, the whole album is amazing. It's funny because I remembered it was awesome and always said it was one of top 5 favorite Prince albums but I hadn't listened to it in awhile and I have to say it is a masterpiece. My view is now changed, I believe it is his best album. better than Sign O' the Times, Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain. It really is, white people need to get over it if they think it's racist.

White people need to get over it if they think it's racist? What kind of ignorant, counter-productive statement is that? That's the kind of lazy stupidity that helps perpetuate racism in the first place.
While we're at it, let's tell those whining Chinese people to get over Nanking and tell those damn First Nations people to shut up and accept their segregation already. TRC has some absolutely brilliant songs, but I can't help but feel adverse to it after all this time. It just takes itself too damn seriously. It's simply overbearing. It kind of plays out like a poorly organized World Religions university lecture about the Jehovah's Witnesses. [Edited 9/18/07 23:16pm] The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

When I look back on the time that CD came out, I realize I have some really patient friends and family, cause I must have drove everybody nuts, but nobody complained, they just listened and enjoyed it with me. I was like this for months on end.

Thanks for saying that cuz I'm not far from thinking it is his most accomplished work to date as well.

It's good no doubt. I'll recommend it to anyone. But, better than 1999 and SOTT? You're crazy! Those are and always will be classics. Both of those are inmy top 5 of Prince albums and my top 50 of greatest albums of all time. Rainbow wouldn't come close to that list. But I love your enthusiasm over this rare classic that I think a lot of people slept on. You're just getting carried away just a little bit. I'll say this much, you do have good taste. Maybe we can be org buddies and talk about music in general. Holla at yo boy! Peace and be wild!

Accept that some people totally disagree with you. TRC is in my top3. I'm not the only one feeling the same way out there. [Edited 9/24/07 3:46am]

Rainbow Children is P's best album! Man it's terrific and great musicianship, even the voice don't distract from the music it's the best, and even better if you have it with some tea "Time is a train, makes the future the past"

It's also one of my fave albums along with Parade, Lovesexy, The Gold Experience and 3121. I enjoy it as it shows where he was, musically, at the time, it's authentic, not contrived and commercial sounding like Emancipation and Rave... For me it marks the return of Prince to his best. I've loved each album afterwards too. He may sound different to 80's Prince, but then he isn't that man anymore. 3121... Don't U Wanna Come?

i love this album one of my faves while we keep our eyes, not on the things seen, but on the things unseen. For the things seen are temporary, but the things unseen are everlasting. - 2 Corinthians 4:28

It is a great album with some cracking tunes.
Whilst some of the words are suspect, the musicianship is brilliant. I'd recommend it 2 anyone.

I love jazz music, on 1st listen it gave me a headache with the voice intervals, now I only dislike TRC, no matter how many chances I give it....I'll probably try again

I love it ... I obsessed with it. The music is an awesome fantasy. The only thing I hate is that I don't get the correlation between the stories and the Jehovah Witness faith. Can somebody help.
I don't always comment, but I'm here.

I don't always comment, but I'm here. it's prince's own take on the bible, really... from genesis to revelation.

TRC owes as much to the JW's as Batman did to House music.
They're his contemporary influences, sure, but Prince transforms them into something that's all Prince. Which is just the way we likes it. What I love about this album is how he seems focused on a coherent theme, musically, he's slamming and not pandering to the masses and who can't help but choke on their cheerios the first time they hear 'Wedding Feast'! I have a sneaking suspicion that it is also one of Prince's favourite albums that he has done.

And children LOVE that song. Never met a kid who didn't want to hear it 20x in a row.
