Sign O the Times tour vs. Sign O the Times Concert video

I didn't get a chance to see the tour, but I own the movie. What's missing and/or drastically different from the real show and the video? How did Sign O's vibe and overall stage compare to Lovesexy's?

I like Sign better as an album, but I liked the Lovesexy tour better than what I've seen on the Sign O the Times video. Who saw the tour?

No I wish I did see the tour. Per Nilsen said that the movie was good, but not up 2 par with the real thing. Supposedly he sung more songs also. Im betting this will be a big thread

the tour never reached England so i can't really comment.I know from bootlegs that there was alot more to the tour than the video shows.

I think there was at one point a longer version, which included 'Kiss', but I might be wrong. The only thing I hate about the film is the lame video for 'You got the look' spliced into the middle. That sucked.

the Bootleg Tapes with "Strange Relationship" Alone show that while the Film was Really Good the Live Show tore it up IMHO."U Got the Look" though was Wack both on Video&Live from what I Heard.and Peeps who were at the Movie House were Pissed with no "Adore" at the end.

The movie was a showcase for the album. Sort of like a long promo video. This is why there are just sprinkles of past material that made the cut.

The tour of course had much more of the hits being added to the setlists.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Hi,

The show was great.
I have seen the show 3 times (including one of the recorded nights) and it is still the best show I have ever seen!!!

It's always different to see a show on video or live.
But what you see is pretty much the same as the live show.
Except he played more songs (Prince edited those songs out of the movie; there were played during recording) and the movie had some minor additions ("U got the look"-promo, some dialogues)

The playlist was:

Madhouse:
- Mutiny,
- Two,
- Three,
- Six

Prince:
Sign O The Times,
Play In The Sunshine,
Little Red Corvette,
Housequake,
Girls And Boys,
Slow Love,
I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man,
Hot Thing,
Now's The Time,
If I Was Your Girlfriend,
Let's Go Crazy,
When Doves Cry,
Purple Rain,
1999,

Forever In My Life,
Kiss,
The Cross,
It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night

Peace,
TheKid
