For years i've avoided listening to this but I finally decided to give it a chance and listen to it today and I thought it was complete s**t. She ruined my fave Prince song!

What does everyone else think of her cover? Does anyone actually like this mess?

Horrible. They bypass all the moody dramatic spaces in the song and replace them with over the top histronics. Prince's version is all about tension while the other is about singing in the mirror.

Prince is such a complex and unique talent. Why would anyone cover such well known songs instead of obscure ones. That is why Sinead's works. She creates a unique narrative all her own. I can't decide whether I like her version better because I heard it first or whether it's just better.

I was looking at some of the comments on youtube though and most people seem to like Prince's version but there were a few who thought Mariah's version was better . They must be young or something 'cause I don't get how anyone could think this version is superior to Prince's.

Love Mariah, but she should really leave Prince's songs alone.

The first time I heard it my sister was playing it, a couple of years ago. And I was like WTF! Not in a bad sense, just in surprise.

I had a friend who worked at a radio station when it first came out and he had to call me while he was on air and he played both versions and asked me what I thought about it and I told him it was ok but no one can mess with Prince's version b/c there is so much passion in Prince's voice. I knew Sisqo at the time also but just because he was a friend of mine didn't change my mind b/c Prince's version was way more powerful to the ears!

It's so so.

I think PRINCE and MARIAH should just record a song together.

I got to listen to it, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but it wasn't that great either. It was different! I actually began to cringe where Mariah kept upping her voice like that! When it was finally over, I was glad to finally be off that ride though!

I agree with the popular opinion and say that Prince does it better, 2 thumbs up!!!
