Hmmm..so when Prince plays this song, knowing that the only way fans can get it is through bootlegs, he is kinda supporting something he is seemingly so strongly against...

TRON

There are 3 versions of it to my knowledge.

1 from '85 with the Revolution
1 from '92 on the scrapped "I'll Do Anything" soundtrack
and 1 from '95 that is closest to what he's been playing live

wonderful song. Release It Prince!

Do anyone have a an MP3 version the could email me or know where I could get a good copy of the song! This appears to be a fan favorite and one of great Prince songs - I've been a fan for 20 years and I never even heard this one...

What are the main differences between the Revolution
version of the song and the NPG version ? I know the NPG
version and that video they used to show during the Gold
Experience tour in 95, but up to now I´ve never heard the
old, 1985 Revolution version.
Is it different ? The "I´ll Do Anything" version is a bit
short (piano)...

Didn't Prince give this song to someone?
Doesn't it appear on a protege's album?

Am I imaginizing this?
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I believe he used the Mayte dancing bit from Empty Room in the Holy River video...

The song was apparently the result of the Susannah breakup.

The old revolution version is not circulating.
The '95 version IS basically the old '85 version just revamped slightly (in the same way tracks like 'Crucial' & 'Movie Star' were revamped for inclusion on 'Crystal Ball'). I heard that the differences between the two are minimal, and just a case of changing the mix slightly and using a different reverb on the vocals & drums. But since the original version hasn't been leaked, we don't know for sure.

Hmmm damn yes he works that song 2 well yum yum yum yum yum hehe wink err But in so many ill proportioned ways since the version on Platinum (which im assuming is the '85 version, although it is with a # of the 'i'll do anything' session tracks... ugh I should learn 2 read the inner notes hehe) is an edit and DAMN i mean that since its only 1min40!

Peep this... there is NO guitar just the keys & a lot of waves from the synth... those r the only lines driving the melody ... its as if all the power that ironically attracts most of us 2 the '95 version was nonexistent or filtered out... it was an after thought i guess ...

Oh plus one of the best lines that really characterizes the ’95 version (im so use 2 it) 'found a strand of your hair... by the lalala' is cut out, as a matter of fact ‘BABY why did u leave me all alone’<-- u know the ‘cant get away from’ part hehe is really toned down, reworded n everything ... and its all reversed ... by that i mean the second verse 2 this song is like the 3rd verse on the '95 version ... craaazzzay but what a trip! Damn i blab hehe my point is that the background is kinda bland and thats why I much prefer the ’95 version ... but if this does detail the ‘breakup’ I wouldnt xpect him 2 have been ‘all there’ anyway lol ... actually being that the undertone of the first version is EMPTY makes a lota sense... now doesnt it lol ... disbelief

So yes the 3 versions r vastly similar yet oddly different hehe ... damn did he EVA give it a face lift in '95...

So out of them all U MUST GET THE 95 VERSION trust me biggrin
And yes nod I do own them all naaannnaaannnaaaboooboo lol wink :p
Talk 2 me if u want them ... actually u better have something 2 exchange, its begging time evillol
Got Gackt??! wildsign thumbs up!

One of THE best unreleased Prince songs. Period.
He played this on the last night of Xenophobia; unfortunately I missed the first London concert and he didn't play it at the other two. The fact that he's giving it public airings - do you think this might appear on 'The Best Of 0+>' album, mentioned in the tour booklet?

There are only TWO versions circulating and both are from the 90's. The 85 version isn't known to circulate in any other form providing the basic backing tracks for th 95 version. I already started a topic on this earlier.
