Driving home from a party tonight in my Miata, I put the roof down, and cruised down the empty highway home listening to Planet Earth, with the wind in my hair. Awesome.

Resolution, Somewhere Here on Earth, All The Midnights, Future Baby Mama, Lion of Judeah - so great to listen on that drive home. I love it.

Of course on the way to the party, it was Guitar and Chelsea Rodgers!

I really think this album is a major grower, and one of Prince's most listenable (repeat listenable) albums ever. Much moreso than 3121 or Musicology.

Lion of Judeah is a great car cruising song for the night-time.

It should come complete with a convertible.

I share your enthusiasm for this album and I've been listening for over 2 months.

For me it's the commercial punch he's been trying to deliver for years, but this time he actually landed square on my jaw.

The album is boring. I've only listened to it once thru and played a couple of the tracks for my girlfriend. So all in all, most of the songs have gotten played once and a couple of them twice, after that, I lost interest in the album.

I love the album- though there are great dance tracks, the album really does grow on you. And I'm lovin the praise that Lion of Judah is getting- I didn't think that many people liked it. Its a great convertible song, and at the same time its also a nice song to sit back and chill to. Def. my favorite track on the album.

The huge highlight 4 me is that I got the vibe of some of his Come/TGe work, especially in "Mr. Good-night"... that's why I love it so much, I guess. Cuz it reminds me a bit of "Space" musically.

Planet Earth has already been shelved. The individual tracks come up occasionally (I have my iPod set to shuffle songs), but it'll be a looooong time before I even think about playing the album start to finish again.

I just can't get into it, and it frustrates me when I hear people say it's their fave track, coz I just ain't feelin'it and I wish I could! It sounds totally out of place on the album...it would flow much better on Chaos and Disorder. Although that still wouldn't salvage it in my eyes, since C&D is my least favorite Prince album and I never listen to it anyway.

To sum up my confusion and frustration over the appeal of Lion of Judah: Man...I dunno...life's a bitch!

Everyone is fortunately different, but anger isn't necessarily a bad emotion with me.

In fact I wish more art would anger me. I strongly disliked "Lion of Judah" for awhile myself. But ultimately I had to admit that it was me who was getting in the way, not the song.

Anyway, for me, anger sure beats the hell out of something fading into the background so much that I couldn't possibly care less.

Some of "Parade" did that to me. At first I was like, "What the hell is this crap?" A few hours, days, weeks or months later: "Oh yeah, this album is sick, and so apparently am I."

And my opinion of "Earth" would be almost as negative as some of my French friends had I only listened once or twice at a listening party. But that's not really an opinion, more of a first impression.

And fortunately I'm no longer forming absolute opinions about anything subjective, especially over music I've just been introduced to.

Just as DaveDare79 states, this album is major grower. And the weird thing is that it sounds initially more like a thrower than a grower to me.

But maybe it'll never grow if it isn't thrown? Hell if I know.

I didn't really understand the song myself. All I could really get from it is that it's about a relationship he's in, but not sure about... then with the whole Biblical reference, he lost me completely.

btw, I love the whole "Mr. Good-night"/"All the Midnights" storyline. I just wish he'd extend it by another song... but maybe "Future Baby Mama" was the first of this track trilogy... I'm not quite sure yet.

Only heard the album 3x so far. But I'll be back when I'm done with w/e I'm on now.

If it makes you feel any better, I ain't feeling "Lion" either. Pretty forgettable, if you ask me, with lyrics that sound arbitrary.
