while listening to bootsy collins excellent new album called 'play with bootsy' i heard a very familiar voice. on tracks #7 /groove eternal) and #8 (dance to the music) prince is singing! First I wasn' t sure if it's really him, because they did something with his voice, especially on track 7 'groove eternal'. i think they speeded up his sweet falsetto a little bit. but you can also hear him on that track in his 'normal voice' right at the beginning, when he says "dig that groove eternal, here's our latest jam, write this in your journal, get on up and jam". Also later in the song, this 'chant' is repeated several times. and people, i KNOW this voice now for fourteen years, IT IS PRINCE ! also the keyboardsound sounds a lot like the early minneapolis-sound (for example at 1.17 mins).
when you look in the credits, the vocals on these two songs are credited to a mysterious 'ONE'. Mmmmh, sounds familiar, right ? 'One Song', 'The One', ' ... come together as one ...', get it ?
But why this new pseudonym ? Probably because Bootsy Collins is signed to eastwest/warner bros.

I've never been a big fan of Bootsy Collins solo work. I adored Munchies For Your Love and I'd Rather Be With You but the rest of his music leaves me cold. There is just way too much going on and hardly any of the songs stick in your mind, theyre just freeform funk jams. I've played his first albums to death but i still don't get them.

I'm not a Bootsy fan either but this new song Neophen from the same Play wit Bootsy Album is the S@#$%^ so I can't wait to hear the other two !

I rally want that new album, especially after what U said. how is it? the only solo Bootsy I have is "What's Bottsy doin?" and I love it!

The pitch of the voice has been played with, but the difference is Prince is really SINGING the song. He is normally so expressive with lyrics. In this song he's taking his time to actually sing the song straight. It's a nice Jam. Refreshing.
