where P stated why he didn't originally release it. Yeah, out of curiosity, I dug some dirt on the album 2 c what it was about. Cuz at that point, I was kinda considering Lovesexy & TBA. Then I read about it and then, I probably backed away like a million feet. That's just plain scary. I should say something "this should teach u not to experiment with... ahem... stuff"... but I doubt I could even do that. Plus, I heard it's full of the only hip-hop he's ever done and that isn't my bag. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Every single album has great songs on them, but I to skip a few songs here and there on them. In reality, we all have different tastes in music and not everything appeals to everybody. It is absolutely amazing that Prince has put out so much music, he is so incredibly talented. I forget how many Prince albums are out there and definately need to revisit each and every one of them. I'll probably never get around to it, but it would be awesome to just burn all the Prince songs that I like on CD. __________________________________________________

Yeah, I agree. I have this supposedly "hatred" of 3121... I use quotes cuz that's too strong a word... but certain songs make it worth returning 2 on occasion. The Dance is my probably my favorite from there. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

where P stated why he didn't originally release it. if that were the case i dont think he would have performed some of the songs live, what most likely happened was that he realised how bad "dead on it" made him look, potentialy alienating himself from a up-and-coming genre that he would later embrace, he probably wanted to pull that song but the album was already being pressed so he had to pull the album Like a Gb Major with a E in the bass

I have read that P didn't want it released because he was in a very bad place in life. He felt that the "devil" influenced some of the material and he didn't want it exposed to the public. He then went in and made LoveSexy (which I understand didn't take long to make). I also heard that WB kind of made him make another album because the didn't feel they had any marketable material on the album. Who knows? **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

easily it's planet earth 4 me ..i have a hard enough time listening through it without the urge 2 shut it off man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I said it once (twice, three times) and I'll say it again: Batman. To borrow a term from an eloquent poster above me that album will never "assault my ears" again. EVER.

- For You Their sound is really too "old" and weak after almost 30 years. But if Prince would rearrange and republish them.. well the songs could be wonderful. (incidentally, I'm not saying he should do it) Damn. Ya'll are really mentioning some classics.

I haven't listened to the Black Album in years, because it is an album and I no longer have a turn table, however I do believe that, the Black Albums release, was a healthy release for Prince...The heaviest pieces always filter to the bottom. For me it would have to be "Planet Earth". This is just a bad album to me. The only song I like on the whole thing is "Guitar".

I've honestly never been able to listen to N.E.W.S., Kamasutra, or Xpectation all the way through even once. I always give up on the last song when there's like two minutes left; it's just too damn boring by then, so I finally lose all patience.
I don't think I'll ever play all of For You, Diamonds and Pearls, , NPS, Rave, or Musicology ever again either, though. I might still play 3121 and Planet Earth all the way through a couple more times. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
