Surely you should be voting Purple Rain then, because if they both go head to head 1999 is gonna get it's ass whipped. I wonder how many are tactically voting. The irony of this is that the whole thing backfires. I wonder how many wouldn't vote Purple Rain or indeed SOTT just because THEY think no one else will vote the album off, when in fact everyone is thinking the same and dislikes the same album. if the recent rollingstone survey of readers' top 100 albums is anything to go by purple rain will win this thing (purple rain finished up at 60-odd and sign o' the times did not even make the list!) then again, it might be that dedicated prince fans' taste is more refined than the general public (judging by the scarcity of purple rain votes here, though, this sadly does not seem to be the case) can't stand the production (or some of the songs, come to think of it)- so cold and sterile...ah, wasting my time | |
