What type of music you really want to hear from Prince?

There are so many type of music that Prince had written, what type of music you really dug from Prince? Funk? Dance? Ballads? Jazz? Rock? Pop?

Some dirty funk, just like the 1999/Dirty Mind era....Black Sweat was close to it but it sounded a tad too computerised for my liking. Something close to Black Sweat but played for real in the studio.

biggrin It wouldn't really matter...any type of music that has been created, touched, or influenced by him usually holds a fair amount of appeal for me. I love his ever changing eclectic style...which makes most other bands or artists seem rather dull to me! wink
He gets it! That's why the ladies love him...batting eyes

Anything we're blessed with is a treat but to answer the question

Something along the lines of The Dance Electric,Sexuality/Spirituality and Feel U Up on the funk side.

Something along the lines of Electric Intercourse,Another Lonely Christmas and International Lover on the slow jam side.

Toss in a few rockers like Endorphinmachine and I Like It There and a few more "expirimental" tracks and I'm there!

man... these kinds of threads annoy me.

People saying what they wanna hear...

I still say let him write whatever he wants us to hear...

I wanna hear anything from him, but 99% of the time, I'd prefer to hear him happy than when he's down in the dumps about something (or even worse... angry & bitter)

But I'd give him all the breathing room he needs... and if writing a song makes him feel better, I'd say go 4 it.

Whatever he feels is right 4 him, I'll back him up 100%

But what you should realize is, Prince is an entertainer. He's not a family member or a personal friend, although he may seem like it sometimes. Sure, no one wants Prince to be miserable but you need to look at things as how they really are. Prince is an entertainer. We are consumers. Yeah, as consumers, we want to hear what we want to hear because we are spending our money.

Would you spend money on some music that you don't like from an unknown artist simply because it made that artist happy because he was making the music he wanted to make? No you wouldn't. You would spend your money on music that you like. Why should Prince be any exception simply because he's Prince?

okay....

he's an entertainer... I don't think I've ever called him one of those.

I always figured that he released his music... my head hurts.

I pretty much like everything he has to offer, there are very few songs of his that I've completely turned my back on.

I'd prefer anything that wasn't rap & hip-hop, but he doesn't do much of that to begin with.

The way I see him, he writes his music as he pleases and I'll just leave it at that. I'm not really too picky. I'll take pretty much anything he has to dish out as long as he believed in it. That's all I really ask.

I'm just the type of "faithful follower" who just wants him 2 do what he pleases and not try to restrict him to doing a particular genre.

2b fair,

Planet Earth contains a lot of the kinds of music I like 2 hear from him

Guitar: overly fun
Somewhere here on Earth & Mr. Good-night: overly sweet
Planet Earth: powerful instrumentals and lyrics

I liked the album cuz it didn't sound dated... It didn't sound modern and it didn't sound overly old-school.

But he makes a lot of music I normally don't listen to enjoyable, so I really can't complain or pick a particular genre I'd want him 2 stick 2.

anything but that shit album planet earth type of vibe. give that funk!

but on the serious side not that I wasn't serious previously, I would like 2 hear any thing he has 2 offer just as long as the music is real and that linn drum is no where 2 b found anymore. and no colabartions with any member of the revolution other than fink.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
