Warner Bros albums deleted

Yes, you heard right. WB have done a distribution deal with another company (one year only) which means that they're no longer pressing Prince albums. Unfortunately, the new re-releases will be exactly the same, not re-mastered or any bonus tracks.

I heard this the other day, you really ought to show some proof though. Wouldn't it be great if Prince finally got control of his masters now?! biggrin

This is something that WB have done and doesn't involve Prince directly, nor will he get control of his masters. You'll be very surprised at the company who got them.

Why do you want proof if you heard this the other day? I'm not a bullshitter like other people posting stuff on this site.

Sorry for being dense, but what exactly does this mean? That oop albums will be re-pressed?

It'd be awesome/ironic/cool if NPG Records is the company that got them. lol

Check out the HMV.co.uk website. It has a wealth of 12" singles available from as far back as I wanna b ur lover as rereleases by a record company called RHINO. Everything is the same including the cover art. & they only cost £3.99 delivered. So anybody missing a piece in their collections should get hold of this while its cheap.

from previous stock, do u really think a company would just go and throw away albums just cause the label has stopped pressing them, it did cost them money to get them in the 1st place so y not get that money back razz

No more stock is being produced, which means that Amazon et al are simply clearing what stock they do have.

I don't know why everyone is so hot for Prince to get his masters. It might be great for him, but not so great for his audience. Prince getting his masters does not equal re-masters with bonus tracks. It could mean nothing at all, or it could mean censoring or anything.

A better solution for us would be Prince working with WB on remasters and re-releases.

The speculation on the Velvet Rope forum is interesting - the part about this move being a possible bargaining tool is hopeful.

Wow - I wonder if that will impact on their control of unreleased material?

Wildly speculating - I wondered if WB controlled the masters of all material produced as well as material released? 3121.com listed 1000 hugs and kisses as a 'new song' in the blog and I wondered if he was trying to reframe it so that he could release it without their permission/royalities?
