Planet Earth, A single review. Planet Earth, A single review.
Let’s start with guitar. As a musician feels a female embodiment living within his instrument, “Guitar,” Serenades to us through his best friend. “”Somewhere here on earth,” is a sweet love letter, seasoned with a knowing that someone in particular is listening. “The one you wanna see,” addresses a woman Prince greatly respects as the song rumbles with the thunderous point…Let no man put asunder, as the song rolls to a close. “Future baby mama,” claims this Prince needs a willow on his pillow to reinforce a family he longs to create. “Mr. Goodnite,” sounds like a wise decision for a girl that wouldn’t mind jumping on a plane and having a glass of champagne. “All the midnights in the world,” begs us to count happy days, for the exchange of an endless midnight. Prince rocks his role in, “Chelsea Rodgers,” as we dance toward the CD’s end, tamed by, “The lion of Judah,” that roars his enemies will soon be no more. The CD dissolves with the sad reminder that war is an unnecessary loop afflicting the heart of humanity. Ultimately, it is our responsibility to affirm our own, “Resolution.” If, “Planet Earth,” is in the palm of the artist’s hand, and peace lingers in his fingers, I would have to conclude that Prince has his finger on the trigger.
