So I was on youtube...

I was on Youtube and I wanted to watch Prince videos, you know the ones I don't have. So I clicked "Play all videos" and it said "This video is unavailable due to a copyright claim by NPG records". You know, sometimes I think I'm here for a reason... And might a I add that almost every other artist's videos I could watch. mad

Yeah, I'd love to be able to enjoy shit that's really close to my heart, like be able to watch footage from Lovesexy shows I missed because I was FOUR when they were on, or nice clips of TV performances.

But of course it's somehow immoral to do so.

Now, I could cope with not being allowed to watch them on youtube ...

...if they were COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE at ALL.

If you want to dictate what people are allowed to enjoy, AT LEAST give us the option to GIVE YOU MONEY in return for the enjoyment of content. I'd be willing to pay 30 bucks for a DVD of a Lovesexy show, even a Musicology show, which I've been waiting to see released for three years.

What good is a copyright if you're not even gonna cash in on your work, let alone deprive people from even experiencing your work. Isn't that what it was intended for?

When, an artist chooses to unveil his work, is personal.
As a writer that would not want someone peering into their diary.
Many an unfinished work could be swept into corners. I wouldn't want
anyone to notice a work in progress, if I wasn't ready to deal a peice
of myself....Presenting your talent is in the delivery. As lover's that
wait on the moment a petal opens by itself.

For the most part, it isn't a case of unfinished work. He's already broadcast it or released it.

I love finding rare clips by artists that showcase their talent. Prince would have endless opportunities to blow people away but I don't have a problem with Prince claiming copyright. It just means you have to work a little harder getting it.
