Love Meshell but I gotta agree with laurarichardson... a her music has gotten extremely depressing.
"Bitter" and "Comfort Woman" were blah albums. Sorry. Best song on Bitter was Wasted Time...brilliant track. Everything else was dull. Comfort Woman sounded like extended leftovers from her various other albums that were just too long to make it on the released version. But then again this isn't a contest so ... whatever. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is a myth, Prince & MeShell have never collaborated.....there were plans, but it never actually happened! I must disagree. On Wednesday, July 3 1996, the day after Prince appeared on David Letterman, Prince and Mish'ell jammed at Battery Studios in NYC. The jam included Eric Leeds and it was for an instrumental version of a song that turned into EMALE (on Emancipation). The song was later reworked in mid August at Paisley Park, but the original DID happen and wasn't just a myth. Prince himself even commented on it in the Emancipation booklet "Rerecorded in Minn. after NY paved the way". Hope this clears up that mystery. (This information comes from the book PRINCE: THE STUDIO SESSIONS) The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. I have to be honest and admit that I haven't heard one of her songs in years. So I don't think she has took over where Prince left off. She was interesting when she first came out but I guess for me the novelty wore off because I have not followed her career any longer but would listen to her music if it was played for me but no one can take over for Prince.

In terms of complexity -----> MeShell In terms of integrity -----> MeShell In terms of mainstream-success-----> Prince In terms of superstardom -----> Prince (in these times no superstars will stand up anymore like they did in the 80's like MJ, Madonna or Prince, it's a whole different ballgame now) Right now, MeShell's music is far more exciting than anything I've heard from the music Prince has released in the last 10 years..... I love Meshell but she will never release anything as great as TRC (2002). Full stop. she does that all the time, she even does it without the annoying Jehova-preachings!

this woman cannot compare 2 prince With a couple of exceptions there is someone who fits into your "comparabillity to Prince" - thats Madonna. All your questions below are answered in the affirmative. can she dance how many songs does she have how many promo videos has she released how many albums has she put out 3 movies like prince did how many tours she been on Ive never heard of Meshell either, but Im sure she's better than Madonna.

Considering her newest CD is titled, "The World Has Made Me the Man of my Dreams", I doubt she'd consider it a slam you're referring to her as he 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
