First of all, I never said she had a catalogue that rivals Prince's. About 5% of musicians do. Admittedly she's got some catchin up to do in that department.

Second, are we really going to match her songwriting and lyrics against some of Prince's current stuff? Lolita? Hello. Black Sweat? Hello. 3121? Hello. All enjoyable songs but if we are going to compare lyrics, she beats his ass with a used tampon.

The point of my thread is that she took over where he left off. Prince drifted and wandered in the 90s. There were flashes of brilliance and some fun but nothing of his 90s or even 2000s output even comes close to the caliber of the albums she's released in the same timespan, I'd say with exception of Come, Gold & Rainbow Children.

Here's my on this issue. Me'Shell is doing her thing and Prince is doing his. If you like what they are doing, great. If you only like what one is doing, then that's fine and dandy too. Me'Shell should be getting praise because her music is great not because she "picked up where Prince left off". She should be her own person creating her own path as Prince has already done. Saying her music beats the dog piss out of "Guitar" is not going to win her or anyone else any points ya know.

Now to Jezzy's point about my being at the Prince shows. Well duh, I'm a Prince fan. Prince still remains my favorite artist ever of all time. But Me'shell has a more superior catalogue in her time as an artist vs the stuff that Prince has been putting out in that same timeframe.
