This song is one of his best live songs, ever. The studio version on the Gold Experience is ok but it is lightyears away from that supercool version he did during that Beatiful Experience( A Night In Erotic City) TV special...that version and the one at the Palladium/NYC in 1994 were the best versions, ever, IMO. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Not bad...but slightly shortened lyrics. Palladium NYC, 1994....that was the bomb. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

and as 4 the person who started this thread..i so agree with u'r nick man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I saw him perform this song LIVE at the Palladium in NYC back in the 90's. I had brought my Sister and it turned her into a Prince fan that night! Thought I'd pass out it was soooo on point and so GOOD!

Not bad...but slightly shortened lyrics. Palladium NYC, 1994....that was the bomb. I was there also. That was a great show. I caught a black and gold symbol tambourine. And I copped a cheap feel of Maythe's pretty ass while she bodysurfed into the crowd. Loved it. That was a great show.

i thought the studio version was live like everything else on "Gold Experience".... i guess that would explain the chills i got when i heard Mike Bland's drum solos.....

I remember jumping up high before that tambourine came down to catch it. I am 6'4" so a have a slight advantage. But when I came down with it dozens of hands were on it. So I boxed everyone out, like you do in basketball. I hope I did not elbow you to hard. Hey, did you get the glossy mag that she threw into the crowd also?

Hey, did you get the glossy mag that she threw into the crowd also? naw i didn't. did u have a big green duffel bag and 1nce i let go of the tamborine did u stuff it quickly in2 the bag? then u were dead center just like me and a glossy magazine couldn't have been enough 2 satisfy the view we had of mayte at certain parts of the show. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I also love any live version I've ever heard. I also thought it was odd that he wrote the song for Tevin Campbell's album , and it didn't cut it as a single. Then he recorded it for The Gold Experience ( and again it didn't make the cut as a single ). But it's still a concert favorite.
