Prince image in Europe

Dear All,

Before Prince announced that he would come back to Europe and give 21 concerts at the O2 in London, I have to say that most people were laughing at me when I told them that I loved his music since I was a kid.
They thought I was crazy when I went to Vegas in March just to see him performing for the w/e, they just could not see the point of it.
Most people only remember him for his old hit "Purple Rain", how annoying to hear ignorant comments such as "Oh yeah the Purple rain guy.." mad

Now I am having a laugh, people are remembering how good he was and still is lol
After the aftershows in London, I was listening to people "I forgot how good he was, he rocked the house, he is an amazing performer".

I am just glad to see that some people are rediscovering and feeling his music.
Do you also see a change of opinion from people on him?

Interesting. I'm not quite sure how other people view him, though. I've always been an insane fan - and when people come over to my place, they're blasted with Prince tunes... most often, they get excited and ask "what is this? this is really good!" .... I tell them, and they're universally taken aback. It's like you said- a lot of people only recognize him as "that guy straddling the purple motorcycle on that movie cover". I'm shocked by how little people remember! I think people are finally (re-)catching on because I've noticed a marked increase in Prince albums at all my local record stores. I think demand is increasing substantially, and the London gigs have done wonders for his recent fame-level.
I've got some honey and some peppermint tea - that's all I need to get my drink on!

I don't know in wich country U live
but in Belgium and The Netherlands he is still respected
and gets a lot of airplay...
every day I hear at least one Prince song, sometimes on different radio-stations.

But.....always the hits,no new songs.
Some radio-stations announced he had a new album and played Cream!
Or Kiss,I would die 4 U .....

The new album however reminds people he is still around and he has a wonderfull backcatalogue.
