Discuss: The Truth

This acoustic album is sooooo underrated. The highlights on this "freebie" album for me, are the title song, 3rd Eye and Welcome To The Dawn(acoustic version). I heard that there is a studio version of Welcome To The Dawn but I have never heard it.

I have been a fan of Prince's music for about 27 years and I remember that he would talk or sing about seeing you in the dawn. When I was younger I was just fascinated, I wondered, "where is the dawn?" and "how can I get there?". 'Cause if he is playing music like that I want to be there. Funny.

When I heard Welcome To The Dawn for the first time I thought everything has come full circle. I was just 10 when Prince's music found it's way to me. Maybe about 13 when I wondered where the dawn was. And now, decades later this song is welcoming me to it. I love this song and this album!!

Imago

It's o.k.

Some of the songs are nice. Some are vomitous.

Why the hell he added effects to an "acoustic" album I dunno. His acoustic sets live PWN this album.

I probably don't have the time to go into why I appreciated The Truth, and quite seriously, I am not one to try to figure out what Prince is saying, singing or writing about. I just know, the lyrics somehow fit with the way I was thinking then and probably still think and feel now. Just a song, yes... and Prince is just Prince. I know I am not saying entirely what I know I could say... but hey...

I do like "The Truth", the album as well as the literal term. wink

I like your questioning of such a place when you were 13. rose

Yes, there are a few goofy moments in this album, but.....this is by far the most intelligent Prince album of the 90's, musically and lyrics.

As a long time Prince fan I was really loosing faith in his abilities .....with dumb album after dumb album, intended for Prince nerds or something.
But this one is a breath of fresh air, I love it! brushteeth
