Love this song!  And the message rules! Remember when him and Mayte performed this on the VH1 Fashion Awards??? They put the camera on Tina Turner and she was sho nuf bobbin' her head. 
I've always thought it was kinda autobiographical.  My favorite part is "Pussy got bank in her pockets, before she got dick in her drawers. . . If brotha didn't have good and plenty of his own in love Pussy never did fall." That boy sho knows how to turn a phrase! DAMN, that's deep! It's like nasty AND crass but for a higher purpose not just gratuitous like most of the crap on the radio today. I'm SERIOUSLY considering putting P CNTRL on the license plate of my next car. It took a listen or two to get into it at all (like with the content and the language and such). But I loved it for a while. Then Endorphinmachine (which I've had a lot of trouble getting into) outshined it and has ever since. I've gotten back to kinda liking it, but ever since my last trip with TGE, I haven't returned 2 it. Let's just say we kinda had a falling out... but I'm working my way back. But I'm busy working thru Diamonds & Pearls and  had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone | |

For me, it was just the constant screaming and lyrics that made no sense at all. I couldn't understand what it was about. But I think the main turn-off 4 me at first was just the title and the way he says it... just rubs me the wrong way. But ever since getting Come, I've learned to like it. Quite a bit. Most people (meaning non-Prince fans) won't pay attention to the lyrics of the song, all b/c of the title. That isn't fair- artists like Prince put alot of thought into what they write (did he write that?). I knew I was kind in love with his talents (Purple Rain- 2nd half- VH1), and I wanted to shy away from the songs where he was really "naughty"... Darling Nikki especially... but I guess I had to experience it sometime. Then I started to like that side of him and at times, crave it. 2b fair,  control was the stepping stone 4 me to jump into that particular side of him... and it (the song) grew on me soon enough cuz it had a great beat to it.had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. I didn't like the lyrics, but it grew on me because of the beat and now I really like the song. And Darling Nikki I really like- lyrics included- and the first time I admitted that I was like but I got over it and now I have that song on repeat whenever I play my PR album.

I used to think(before this song) that Prince was not complete in his debauchery because he never used that word.
