Wow! I'm surprised by the number of people who've said they keep their collections in either alphabetical or chronological order.

I keep my CD collection in alphabetical order by artist and the chronological year of release. I thought I was just anal in organizing my collection that way. Good to know other people do the same thing.

So, bookending my chronological Prince discs are (the first release) For You and (the most recent) Planet Earth.

Not anal at all - I think it's commendable and I curse myself for being too lazy to do it. However, I'd have to rearrange it on a weekly basis and I just don't have the time. Prince has his own space beginning with 'For You' obviously and ending with 'The Ultimate Prince' but as we speak now 'Planet Earth' but he is right next to my Madonna section on the one side and my 'soul legends' space which features odd albums and greatest hits by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding etc.

As for my bookends on the main shelf that comprises the Prince and Madonna collections - first album is 'Madonna' or 'The First Album' whatever you want to call it and my last is Blur's Greatest Hits by the looks of it (now what's that doing there...)
