I would agree that most of the boots are Princes fault. During the 80's I received a ton of studio recordings from the park. 2 staff members were giving them out like it was nothing, no big deal. Now Prince is pissed about it. Prince should have got his house in order years ago.

Probably because he didnt se it as companies like Sab and Tball making what he thinks of as "a profit" off of him..plus it was around the time when he had beef about the sytem and money (lawyers, managers making money for days) that I feel stemmed his "oh no u aint gonna make any money off of me" buffalo stance...which entailed including boots under the anti make money off of me umbrella---he has always wanted folks to hear his good stuff to an extent I believe.
I agree.
The beginning of the Black Album says it all:
"Good, you found me...this is Prince"

Prince is against bootlegging, what a funkin joke yet he goes out of his way to play Empty Room because he knows everyone loves that track & probably already owns it, he can be such a hypocrite!

what if you stopped buying bootlegs because it's stealing and God thought it was important enough NOT to steal that he made it a commandment? I'd be more worried about that than any lawyer, musician, or fan. People seem to forget that when debating this issue. There is right and wrong and it has nothing to do with Prince's opinion or yours for that matter. And we all face the consequences in the end based on the choices we made.

Tom

Prince has an outlet to release all this amazing music. Fans are dumping money into this outlet to try and make it a success, and instead he gives us throwaways, most of which arent even good enough to be on a bootleg.

If he wants people to quit buying bootlegs, then he should start selling the shit from his site legitimately. Hes not losing any money on this stuff if he was never gonna get off his ass and release it in the first place. The only people doing 'the work' are the bootleggers.

Pretty good. No overdubs, no edits. Just the raw thing, as it was meant to be. The only bit of hiss you hear is the fire in the background.

I don't feel bad about buying boots. I trade with others and NEVER ask anyone for money when they ask for stuff that I have. So I'm not making money, just sharing music with others. I'd be buying this stuff from Prince...if only he put it out himself.
