Are Promo Album's worth more than the regular album? I wanted to know if promos were worth alot of money. My friend has Prince Promo's that were released in the 1980's that have Promo stamped in gold on the album covers. It also says not for retail. I've never seen anything like this before. Is this rare or valuable?

Yes. Especially if they are test pressings. There is a book that contains values of records, cds, cassettes, etc. I have seen it at a few used cd stores before. It tells the value of the album based on condition.
From my understanding, record club versions of lps and cds are also pretty valueable. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

PROMOS R WORTH MORE Though it depends what u got. However Prince is one of the more desirable artists, along with Queen and Madonna etc. There r a few types of promo 1 promotional copy = This is a regular version of a CD with a not4sale sticker on it 2 Promo Only = This is a advance disc that has been pressed just 4 promo use and will have promo printed on the sleeve and disc. These r genrally the ones 2 look out 4. Im quite lucky as a freelance writer I get sent them but also collect them 2. My best peice is the white vinyl promo 4 the Black Album and is worth around £300. Hope this sheds some light and if u need any help gettin hold of any Prince record or any other artist send me an org note
