Micki Free is a great guitarist. It's ashamed that he is so underrated. There are so many great black guitarists out there that a lot of people really don't know about. Really Sad! disbelief

True, but Micki's Native American.

So did I. He's Cherokee/Commanche. He reminds me of a guy I went to high school whose name was Apache. You just can't tell sometimes. Thanks to wlcm2thdawn, who provided the link to his bio. I had no idea he was Native American. Check out he link she posted and you could see him in his Native American gearThere's links on this thread re: his bio. Although he's older, he's still fine.

I know Tame says "what difference does it make?" but Native people like to be recognized too, and he is a very proud award winning musician in the Indian community and should be recognized as such.No harm intended

He certainly doesn't get the light shined on him like he deserves. I found out he won a grammy in 1985 for “Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture” for Eddie Murphy's movie Eddie Murphy’s “Beverly Hills Cop”. and 3 platinum albums for the song "Footloose" and also at the 7th Annual Native American Music Awards he won for "Best Pop/Rock Recording of the Year 2005 Award," for his work on "The Nine".
Also he's featured on the history channel's in a segment call " The history of the Texas Rangers" and he plays the infamous Comanche Chief "Ten Bears"...all this among other things. I got this info from his myspace page, so he's been into a lot over the years.

I bought the Stevie Salas Colorcode album when it first came out, courtesy of a profile in Guitar World that mentioned his producing work with George Clinton and his touring with Rod Stewart.

Forgot to add - love Stevie Salas' production work on Sass Jordan's first album, especially "High Road Easy".
