One Nite Alone (Solo Piano Album)

I've had this album since it came out. I've only listened to it a few times, but I am totally hooked on it this week. It was a total "sleeper cell" album for me! It just came to life!

This particular album is growing on me the way Jeff Buckley's "Grace" and Rufus Wainwright's self-titled album grew on me - I didn't care much for them at first; not very catchy on first listen, but something in the songs told me they were gold.

My ONLY complaint about the album is how he spells the word "Nite", and that's just a superficial complaint. smile

Yes, that is one of my favorites. I've never heard the original, Joni Mitchell version, though. At the end of the Prince version, the mood of the song changes and there a little breakdown section. Is it like that on the Joni version as well, or is that part totally a Prince inclusion?

Yeah, I LOVE that part I wish it would have lasted a bit longer.

Same here. I really didn't pay much attention to it when it came out (remember it seemed like he was just filling a quota 'OK, done the acoustic album, done the 'ballet' album, what's next?... Ahhh, yes, piano album!'). But gave it a listen earlier this year and should've slapped myself for ignoring it for so long.

There's a lot of great tracks on here. I think this is a much better album than The Truth (which I always compared it to in my mind). Some of the tracks would be great live, or would work amazingly well fleshed out with a full band, or more instruments.

Y&B is brilliant, like 1979 brilliant, Have A Heart and Pearls Before The Swine are also fav's.

Where can I get an actual pressed copy of the album? The copy I have is ok, but it's a burned copy that a friend gave me. The album and artwork was downloaded from NPGMC (I think)... but I'd like to have a "real" copy.

eek £95.00

I would love a copy of this but I think I'll have to bide my time.

I'm studying at the moment (Yes, at 30 I'm the oldest student in town) but when I qualify in April, I'll be filling in the blanks in my Prince collection....no matter the cost.

Until then.....

Wow. $195 is a lot of money to pay for something I already have a burned copy of. I was hoping there was a record label or something I could order it from for about $10.

How do you make that little British money symbol on a computer?

Okay, is it also standard to make "$$$" on a UK keyboard as well?

My point is, the standard US keyboard only makes $$$. But if the UK one makes $$$ AND "the other", then that means the US is superior to the UK!!!

haha just kidding

If you speak nicely to someone in the UK they may buy you a copy as the O2 shows are selling the One Nite Alone Live box set that included this cd as a bonus.

Don't know how much it's going for though.

And the british symbol is a pound stirling sign.

UK keyboards:

Shift+3 = £
Shift+4 = $

So we have the dollar sign as standard, but retain our national superiority by having your currency symbol AFTER ours. razz lol
