Excellent song, Prince was at his most focussed and artistic prime when he wrote this. Shame it had to be the flipside to his biggest hit, the equally Fantastic "When Doves Cry", anyway must be the greatest ever 45!

Originally written for Brenda to sing on the Apples 6 album (hence the lyric "I've got two cigerettes)but just like he yanked the song "The Glamorous Life" and "Manic Monday" from the Apples album, he yanked "17 Days" as well. The intro to this song with the guitar is fantastic. Actually, that's my favorite part of the whole song! But yeah, very cool song. I'm glad he took it back from Patty. Like the other songs I mentioned, they all would have been wasted on an Apple6 album anyways.

I love this song, it's been a while since I listened to it though.
