"adore" adoration thread i was reading elsewhere on this site someone wasn't feeling this song.sure everyone is entitled to their opinion,likes and dislikes and all that is fine. but this is my personal favorite song of all time(so they're nuts,lol!).the lyrics to me is what prince music is all about.an everlasting love to a fault. you can burn up his clothes but don't mess with his ride.this is the single best line ever written imo.and strangely it doesn't hurt the song's sincerity because everyone has their limits,no.all the metaphors and innuendos are awesome.a big crescendo of emotions before the song breaks down and p does his crazy vocals techniques then he(and the song)really go off.and the cool thing is he never gets too carried away with it all(as he often does).the song shows a great depth and restraint in p's voice.probably the best,fine tuned prince vocal ever.the little keyboard samples,folks talking in the background in the second verse,the atmospheric horns.this is classic r and b people.the kind of song only prince would make.from the smooth creep in intro to the angelic choir voices at the end i love every inch of this song.love is too weak to define how much i adore "adore".your thoughts? I too have always loved this song and I have heard so many people choose it as their first dance wedding song that it certainly must resonate love and romance from the heart. He has several hundred love songs, but this will always be my favorite. | |

Adore is and will always will be in my top 5. This is the first song that made me a crazy Prince fan. I use to listen to it over and over again. Adore = sheer greatness. I tought his voice in this song was one of the best I've ever heard. I also can say Adore is one of Prince's best. Some people think I'm kinda cute

In my top 3 definitely. The song is exquisite. I remember some friends dissing the album for not having that "Prince sound," but flipping out when they heard Adore. SOTT was one of the first cd's I ever bought, and I remember listening with the headphones on, and being amazed at being able to hear the clicking of the keys on the organ in the intro.

Sorry to piss in the pool but I have now placed Scandalous and W2RILV over Adore as my all time favorite eighties ballad. Why? Scandalous is so much more sensual and personal than Adore, it's him taking the seductive role to the max .
