Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. I dislike the entire Lovesexy era!

Did you see the tour video.
If you didn't. Watch that first and then make up your mind OK?

Nothing's wrong you. It just isn't for everyone. Frankly, I think Glam Slam and I Wish U Heaven are to two weakest tracks on the album, but that's just me. shrug

It's nowhere near as good as SOTT, but the songs, the production, the live show, the concept, the costumes, the album cover, all of it, just has so many good memories

I'm with you on that. I have never really like IWUH! I also felt the album was a very poor follow up to SOTT (at the time I was well disappointed). However, I did learn to love it.

Personally I think it would have been a far stronger album if it had featured a few of the tracks from the Black Album such as Le Grind, Bob George and Superfunkycalifragisexy. It could have had A side Sexy and B side Love.
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

I'm more a fan of the era than the actual album.Live, you couldnt fuck with that band. Some legendary performances available.

well, there's a reason the album and singles (apart from a little activity from "alphabet st") pretty much flopped in the US (on radio and mtv).

I still LOVE how he produced the whole album as ONE SINGLE TRACK. My CD player HATES that because it can't shuffle... HAHAHa

This was 1988. And regardless of how you feel, it all boils down to what your friends and the people around you thought of the music when they heard it initially. I saw people turned off by the singles. I remember in 1988 hearing Alphabet St in a dept store and overhearing two guys talking "the only good part of this song is the yeah yeahs yeahs". It just didn't catch on at the time.

I remember playing a mix tape and one guy saying he loved "Girls and Boys" and then "Glam Slam" came on, and he just hated it.

I really do think you had to be alive at that time to appreciate it.

Nothing else at that time sounded like that album. I do think that individually, the songs are quite weak - but as a an album, it was a headfuck.

well I like the album too! But it was not a hit with people in the US and even to my ears sounded wrong on first listen, especially after the SOTT movie.

actually that was the concept of the tour ofcourse...to bad it wasnt done in the album as well..using also the black album material...

could have been something like this...

B4
-> Cindy C.
-> 2 nigs united
-> Le Grind
-> Superfunkycalifragisexy
-> Bob George

-> Anna Stesia
-> Eye No
-> Glam Slam
-> Lovesexy
-> When 2 r in love
-> I wish u heaven

Now wouldnt this be (by far) the best Prince album ever...for me it would...

Maybe the concept of the album was too spiritual, naive, happy and commercial for the R&B audiences, and certainly the mainstream audiences weren't prepared for this album: it sounds from another planet, the Planet Pussy or something like that lol .
Nevertheless, at the very first listen I thought that the production was brilliant, but some of the tracks bored me ( eye NO, Dance on, Positivity), but now I TRULY enjoy ALL the tracks.

By the way, my choice mixing Black Album (dark side, lust, drugs, greed, Satan) and Lovesexy (love, peace, friendship, God, good vibrations lol ) would be:

CD 1
1. Le Grind
2. Cindy C
3. Dance On
4. Scarlet Pussy
5. Bob George
6. Superfunkycalifragisexy
7. 2 Nigs United from West Compton
8. Rock hard in a funky place

CD 2
1. eye No
2. Alphabet St.
3. Glam Slam
4. Anna Stesia
5. Lovesexy
6. When 2 R in love
7. I wish U heaven
8. Positivity

That would have been one hell of an album if released as a two album set with this tracklisting.
