Planet Earth selling in Dallas On yesterday, I had to go to my neighborhood Target and noticed that there were NO copies of Planet Earth on the shelf. I asked the attendant who worked in that area and was informed they couldn't keep it on the shelf. Mind you, this was in an "ethnic" neighborhood, but this is a good sign. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Why did you have to get racial... that is a pretty dumb thing to say. you don't think that a person's ethnic backgruond could influence the type of music they listen to...that is a pretty naive way to live. I don't know what is worse, being PC, or actually being afraid to admit a person racial background can influence sales depending on geographic location. this message brought to you by logic.

Why did you have to get racial... that is a pretty dumb thing to say. Not really. He's just telling the truth. In the 1980s, there was funk in the record stores in the white neighborhoods but for the real strong "black" funk (that never crossed over), I had to go to the black neighborhoods. These days, it's the exact opposite. Since shit hop has completely taken over, it's hard to find funk in the black neighborhoods these days (which is a damn rediculous shame). The shit hop has taken over in the white neighborhoods also, but there seem to be a lot of white people these days that have gotten into funk because they now consider it "art". Therefore, the white neighborhoods seem to be carrying a lot more funk in the stores than the black neighborhoods. I'm surprised that the Prince album is doing so well in the black neighborhoods in his area considering that a lot of the customers in those areas are more into shit hop. There could have been some older people buying the new Prince album expecting funk though.....even though the new album is mostly rock (they wouldn't know it until they buy it though). Andy is a four letter word.

Why did you have to get racial... that is a pretty dumb thing to say. I wasn't trying to get "racial" at all. The neighborhood where I went to Target was in a community that was predominately Afro-Americans and Hispanics. I was trying to be offensive. I know that Prince has a variety of people from different cultures that are HUGE fans. [Edited 8/15/07 13:00pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Why did you have to get racial... that is a pretty dumb thing to say. By the way Prince has a lot of white fans... you should have seen them at First Avenue in Minneapolis shaking their booty, although out of rhythm.

I understood what you were saying. It is suprising Prince would sell in a urban area, especially with mostly a rock cd.

Why would that be surprising? Surely you're not suggesting "urban" peeps can't get with or understand rock music? It's time one take a history lesson, and for certain it's time to STOP pigeon holding peeps to ones own narrow minded understanding. The original post was cool until the ethnic mention, which has nothing to do with his sales, OBVIOUSLY! "Opinions... Everyone has one!" - NSpade

I was at the Target in Redbird. It's not surprising that the Target at Cityplace is sold out as well. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

But the majority especially the younger crowd are so consumed with hip hop and not open to anything else unless it's merged with hip hop.
