A friend of mine asked me if we ever really knew why purple is Prince's favorite color. And I have to say, even being a long time fan--I don't remember reading anything in any interviews about it.

I know it's the color of royalty and all that stuff, but do ya'll know of any interview where *he* actually gave an explanation????

I think that he just played the purple thing b/c his name is Prince and both means Royalty! You gotta have a catch somewhere! I don't think that Prince and orange would go so the best color that goes together is Purple.

Now, he could've been using Purple as a double meaning:
Red and Blue makes Purple
Red is for his hot, devilish side and Blue is for his innocent, angel side...there are two sides to him and if you mix them up, they are exactly him(the opposites all together in one).

So regal,so royal,so fit 4 a Prince.

I think he stole it from the Minnesota Vikings.

Purple doesn't mean royalty.

Blue does.

Ever hear of Royal Blue? There is even a Crayola crayon called Royal Blue.

The King in He-Man wore a BLUE robe, not a purple one.

Because blue is usually asscociated with masculinity, and pink which is an off color of red represents the feminine. You put the two together and what you get is purple.

Yes he did explain it on a talk show once I think it was with Tavis Smiley on BET but I'm not sure and he said something about the blue of the sky and red made purple or some Pricey shit, I'll look for it and pm you!

He isn't really all about purple anymore. He wears all kinds of color. He has changed and grown in that way. I do love that purple period though. People will probably always associate that with him, like the symbol.
