1999 more modern than PR?

I was remembering the other day how I reacted to PR when I first heard it in '84. I clearly remember thinking that although 1999 was recorded 2 years earlier, it seemed to sound more modern than PR. Maybe it's because some of the PR tracks were recorded live. Anybody else feel this way?

"1999" has a more futuristic feel to it (what we thought the future would sound like in 1999). That's what I love about the album the most.

It's a damn shame that music in general in the actual year 1999 didn't live up to the "1999" album. The year 1999 was full of slow ass shit hop.
Andy is a four letter word.
