Aw, That's cool. I love Alchemy but I've never seen/known that before. I never really checked out the symbols. I always liked the look of Prince's symbol, but those others are cool as well. And I saw some more nice symbols in a google search as well.

It's a wierd coincidence that it also looks like his male/female symbol.

i found this about Prince's symbol on a website.

"This ostentatious symbol served as a name for the musician Prince for more than five years After a publishing dispute with his recording company (Warner Brothers). Adapted from the alchemical symbol for soapstone (by the addition of a circle) as illustrated in a Dover Clip Art Book, the symbol was most likely chosen for its resemblence to the planetary symbols of Mars and Venus, making it a particularly fitting symbol for the androgynous artist."

Prince's original symbol was a combination of male/female symbols. The one that he changed his name to added the squiggly part in the middle.

I always thought that was a stylized horn (referring to music) but after seeing the alchemy symbol it seems he lifted that whole bottom part.

Everyone will always remember that symbol as Prince's pseudonym.

i do plan on taking my one to a jewller and getting them to make a copy out of something nicer, i.e. silver

white gold or platium if i have the money ill need to start saving

Those symbols are as old as "The Emerald Tablet" And So is The Cross...The Symbol Prince bestows is of an Ancient Love. We as Children of God are blessed when we understand That male-n-female reaction. The motion of the world is in that gift... Genesis is based on it. And to express that love through music is Prince's grace, as well as his thanks.

You know what...

I think that Prince might have just put the male/female symbols together, then later figured out about the soapstone symbol. He probably noticed the line and the arrow at the bottom (of the soapstone symbol) and thought that it looked like the end of the male/female symbols.
