Best musician Prince has worked with

what's the best musician Prince has worked with?

Most of the time Prince was and is surrounded by the best musicians- both in The Revolution and in the New Power Generation.

(although some are not very liked...)

who is your favourite?

For me it's Sheila E.
As a drummer she's great, even more I think she had such an influence on Prince' music during the 87/88 era. She produced the best and funkiest rhythm tracks for Prince.
But respect as well to Michael B. and John Blackwell! I'm dying to see the John during the European tour..

Dont know about best musicians but I pretty much loved the whole Lovesexy line up,including Boni bless her cry

And then there are Wendy and Lisa, dont know why so many give them such a hard time. When they worked together they really did work magic.

Wendy and Lisa "phone home"

Much love yes Pochacco

TOUGH CHOICE!

I'll have to go with LISA, since you asked for THE Best musician. The piano pieces on Eroica make me choose her instead of Wendy.

while he was, obviously, not in the band, the best musician prince has ever worked with is miles davis. without a doubt.
the best "regular" band member would have to be sonny thompson.

Yup  me agree me think Sheila E was one of the best musicians prince worked with. My favorite Sheila E moment was from the Purple Rain concert her solo part from the Baby I"m A Star. She can work it with her hands or with drum sticks

His name is CLARE FISCHER. I think it's mispelled on one of Prince's albums, but it is CLARE, not Claire (the usual female spelling).

BEST Musicians? They're adequate. THE REVOULTION was a decent rock band (honestly, WENDY & LISA kinda bore me) and NPG and LOVESEXY are pretty good funk bands. They're very talented, but I don't see any these cats as top of the line; #1 on their instruments. I wouldn't pay much to hear a set of theirs without Prince. They're sidemen.

Co-sign. But I think Blackwell is by far the best drummer he's worked with.

Seriously, I'd say Miles Davis, without a doubt. How come no one else thinks so?

U R so right. There R 2 many really good musicians in Prince's past and present that it's difficult 2 choose.

My first thought was Sheila, she's simply The Bomb on those drums.

But then again there R the hornplayers Eric, Matt, Candy and Maceo. They add that special something 2 his music.

But no music without bass. BrownMark, Levi, Larry. They can be spared though - since Prince can play his own Bass (Checkout the Batman album).

In the end there R 2 many 2 choose from 2 make a choice for the best one.

Thx 2 them all.
I'll have another glass of you.
this time on the rocks.

I'm not sure that I would qualify Prince playing live with Miles one time and Prince sending him some songs to blow on top of "working with each other".

They never created music in the same recording studio.

The band from the SOTT and Lovesexy era. I think if I tried to single them out it wouldn't be as good.
