"The Work" box set-Is it worth getting?

How is the sound quality compared to other outtake sets like Cosmos or Deposition? Opinions please.

i was really excited when this first came out cause it advertised excellent quality outtakes. i was dissappointed when i got it. they still arent perfect. some are improved but its far from excellent quality. it is nice to have all the songs on one collection though. all of mine were scattered about on 100's of tapes. Most tracks are almost the best quality in circulation (with the exception of a few).

I got The Work vol 1-5 and that set is the bomb!!!
99% of the songs are great quality. Maybe 3 or 4 songs could be better. Don't SLEEP on this set as it is a great complement to Cosmos, Dreams, Deposition, H20. I have all these and a few more and I think with these sets and all the other cds I have, I got everything in the vault and my Prince vault can actually rival his.

Can anyone tell me!?!?

If I have alll the songs on the work already, via all the exsisting CD sets, Sab and thunderball etc, is it still worth getting? Has the qaulity improved that much?

Or is it only good if you never had them all on CD before?

There are songs on the work that have not appeared on any other outtake collections. Ie Warden In The Prison Of Love..what a title!

A friendly reminder... please do not solicit bootlegs or offer them for sale/trade here at prince.org. I had to delete a few posts... we don't want to be Paisley Park's next lawsuit target.

Thanks for your cooperation!

Without asking for more or (ahem, Matt) or citing links to bootlegs (ahem, the other Matt), I saw the tracklisting once and found that I had already downloaded a large portion in random places. You can find most of it, not that I'm about to tell you where.

Since Londell probably has this thread bookmarked, then the official word from Tommy is to wait for the Crystal Ball 2 set that Prince promised us a year or so ago, you know, the one we got to pick the tracklist for...
