i downloaded this awhile back.Could someone give me some info on this live track.It sounds like it was recorded prior to 9/11 (don't know where though.Holland?).the Lyrical content and sound effects astound me.It's pretty freaky.

This was discussed on the Org soon after 9/11 last year. I thought it was pretty creepy, myself. A lot of folks dismissed it, and had some valid points: Osama was in the news when it was recorded (97?) for blowing up a US embassy in Africa. And "2001" sort of rhymes with "bomb" - still, it gave me the shivers!

Yes, Utrecht december 1998 at Tivoli, last song. Which by the way was "the go-gos" partly based on "Also sprach Zaratustra", soundtrack of the movie "2001 Odissey".
As a matter of fact Prince mentioned that phrase a few times before saying once "2001", instructing the band for that part of the song. Therefore it is just a coincidence.

I remember hearing that song after september 11th.
I also know that bin laden struck the American Embassy South Africa back in 1998. So maybe he was performing about that particular tragedy because many lives were lost in that attack.

The tracklist on the boot that came out back in 98 has 2001 in the name of the track... kind of scary

Well the fact that he said "watch out, 2001" is weird, although Osama was around WAY before '98...My girlfriend's Dad was a top immigration official for Canada Customs, and they had known about him years ago.

i cant believe u people, osama bin laden was the worlds most wanted and dangerous terrorist, back then, if prince sang at an aftershow, during this tour "war with iraq wtf" and six months later the US bombed baghdad, would u also think it creepy, give me a break.
