Random Prince questions Having just finished listening to Purple Rain soundtrack, some questions come to mind..
1) at the beginning of Baby I'm a star, a woman's voice is heard over the intro..who is she and what is she saying? 2) has anyone else noticed how much echo Prince used to use on his vocal tracks, but hasn't in awhile? 3) I love the double guitar solos on Computer Blue...don't you? 4) Prince used to sing with much more emotion in his voice, didn't he (ex-computer blue shreiks, darling nikki shreiks, etc 5) he's a much better musician now, 20 years later, isn't he..

1) at the beginning of Baby I'm a star, a woman's voice is heard over the intro..who is she and what is she saying? It's backwards. I think it's Apollonia, and she says:
"Like what the fuck do they know? {backwards message} All their taste is in their mouth Really, what the fuck do they know? Come on, baby Let's go crazy!" http://www.dtt-lyrics.com...urple.html 2) has anyone else noticed how much echo Prince used to use on his vocal tracks, but hasn't in awhile? Now that you mention it, yes. 3) I love the double guitar solos on Computer Blue...don't you? I do - they're awesome 4) Prince used to sing with much more emotion in his voice, didn't he (ex-computer blue shreiks, darling nikki shreiks, etc (Loving the PR today?) I think he still sings with feeling, just in a different way 5) he's a much better musician now, 20 years later, isn't he.. I think he's always been a good musician...

Good question. I'll need to sample it and play it backwards. I'm pretty sure it's a backwards track of some kind. 2) has anyone else noticed how much echo Prince used to use on his vocal tracks, but hasn't in awhile? yup. I liked his voice back then though even without the echo. It sounded less trained than now 3) I love the double guitar solos on Computer Blue...don't you? I LOVE Computer Blue's everything. I love the boots of it too 4) Prince used to sing with much more emotion in his voice, didn't he (ex-computer blue shreiks, darling nikki shreiks, etc Yes. Many of his current ballads sound a bit "Staged" or mechanical, even with his voice having improved over the past. None of then resonate emotionally like "The Beautiful Ones". 5) he's a much better musician now, 20 years later, isn't he.. I'm not smart enough to know, but I would figure yes. The guy has never taken entire years off to relax in his career. He's been at it for years. He HAD to improve during that time.

1) at the beginning of Baby I'm a star, a woman's voice is heard over the intro..who is she and what is she saying? what RUHip2Thejive said
2) has anyone else noticed how much echo Prince used to use on his vocal tracks, but hasn't in awhile? Used to love that echo effect. He uses live alot recently, albeit it sounds more produced. a product of digital technology i guess. 3) I love the double guitar solos on Computer Blue...don't you? Yes, its two guitars, one playing a 5th higher than the first. 4) Prince used to sing with much more emotion in his voice, didn't he (ex-computer blue shreiks, darling nikki shreiks, etc Agreed, rarely hear that true, raw exposed emotion anymore. Perhaps it was the search for identity as a younger artist. 5) he's a much better musician now, 20 years later, isn't he.. Depends on how u determine 'better'. I would argue he created better records in the 80's - rawer, more urgent and soul drenched. however, if u mean 'better' as in his understanding of his craft then, yes, he is better today. Is that a good thing? i dont know. [Edited 8/9/07 16:23pm]

My questions:
- What designers (other than Versace) has Prince worked with? - Does Prince know the meaning of life? - Will I ever get a 3121 jacket and tickets to a show? - How many Prince songs are known to have backward lyrics? - Don't you just love it when Prince "screams" in a song? [Edited 8/10/07 9:47am] "So shall it be written, so shall it be sung..."
