When I was 12, Prince to me was.....

This is really a response to another post. I really wanted my voice heard. I think back in the 80's when I was 12 and I didn't see Prince on the poster naked in the shower on my wall and think SEX. Yes, it was on my bedroom wall (My Grandma who worked at Hennepin County with Prince's Grandma was outraged! That is probably why my begging to meet him went unheard.)It was not about nudity and sexuality. At age 12 I really saw through the whole DMSR stuff and saw Prince as a God fearing man who like today would see God in whole without all the societal crap that stardom brings. He is near 50 and so it is finally here! I am so happy for him! I am not some ultra religious person at all but saw the side of him that the stardom was overshadowing the truth he had always known. I am glad after 25 years that is now being shown through his work and his actions! You always knew and thank you for bringing the light during my teenage years even though you probably thought you didn't!
*******All 7 and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all*******

In the 80's a lot of Grandmoms were outraged at Prince, but that's music's history, every generation parents are outraged at the music kids listen to. But there aren't many artist that can last and change themselves around the way he has.

I discovered Prince at my grandmthers house!! I've appreciated the irony of this eversince! Her lodger had left a cassette of "Purple Rain", n' in a moment of boredom...I'll never 4get that day...he blew my 13 year brain!!
4 me, Prince embodies the eternal struggle between fleshly wants and spiritual need...God was there then..and, of course, remains so. Thats why I fell in love wid da man, but more completely, his music. A true gift from above... wink

My Grandma took me to see Purple Rain-Lord Rest Her Soul(I miss her). We had fun at the movie, but she was shocked at the love scenes-who wasn't? giggle
