Here he was talking about Wendy and Susannah. Who both have reddish brown hair (like Clara, although you can't tell in her movies because they're silent films in in Black and White) and both bear a strikig resemblance to the 1920s sex symbol. And when Wendy played, she sometimes did make funny faces, which Clara was also apt to to do in her movies.

During this time in his career, I know that Prince was heavily into classic films, Under The Cherry Moon and the whole Parade era were influenced by it as well as The Family (especially Susannah's hairstyle which was inspired by 1940s siren Veronica Lake's peekaboo bang, although it's hard to do that look with curly hair).

I always was especially touched by this.
