Andre Crabtree? I thought he was saying "Andre Crouch". Is he saying Andre Crabtree on "Grafitti Bridge" also?

I wonder who he's referring to when he said, "Let's fall in love, get married, have a baby... we'll call him Nate, if it's a boy."

Since then I've always liked the name Nate. giggle

At the end of The Walk the time says:

We don't like Polieman ( a reference to the Police)...
We don't like Television (A reference to the 1980s New Wave Band)

In Condition of The Heart Prince said:

"There was a woman from the ghetto who made funny faces just like Clara Bow,
How was I know that she would where the same cologne as you and giggle the same giggle that you do..."

Here he was talking about Wendy and Susannah. Who both have reddish brown hair (like Clara, although you can't tell in her movies because they're silent films in in Black and White) and both bear a strikig resemblance to the 1920s sex symbol. And when Wendy played, she sometimes did make funny faces, which Clara was also apt to to do in her movies.

During this time in his career, I know that Prince was heavily into classic films, Under The Cherry Moon and the whole Parade era were influenced by it as well as The Family (especially Susannah's hairstyle which was inspired by 1940s siren Veronica Lake's peekaboo bang, although it's hard to do that look with curly hair).

I always was especially touched by this.

Calligraphy

In "5 Women," he makes a chilly reference to actress Mathilda May, one of his former flames.

"May was her name. She was jumping. Jumping from plane to plane. Actress or model or something... I can't even remember her first name."

Not the kindest treatment from our man Prince...

I don't know about all that but what really impressed me was his lyric in "Sweet Baby" when he says "how can you sleep knowing that you let a fool sing in the same key?"

I was going through a rough break up with my daughter's mom at the time and it hit home for me.

Thats the eerie part. But apperently I was kinda wrong about the name anyway. But its still odd to me. Gives me a little shiver, yaknow? But Im over analyzing; Its my 2nd fave P song so i probably spin it and think about it too much.

I love how he references his own lyrics, as if there's a list of recurring characters in his mind which walk through his songs.

Funny enough, was listening to "Everlasting Now" this week and kept laughing at the part at the end of the latin vibe (5:43 in) where the voice says "You know, this is funky but i just wish he would play like he used to..."

yes, i'm guilty and he called me on it!

Did you ever see the final episode of season 4 of Six Feet Under? One of the main characters, Nate, says "let's get married n have a baby." Too close for coincidence wink
